About
ASU Community and Political Engagement (CAPE) engages in advocacy and empowering student leaders to work towards change, and we hope our new CAPE chairs will join us in working towards our goals! CAPE focuses on activism, exploring APIA cultural, social, and political issues, and collaborating with other cultural organizations to conduct discourse. In previous years, CAPE chairs have hosted discussion events on current issues (unrest in Hong Kong, COVID-19) and cultural issues (colorism, intersectionality with other minority groups), voter registration drives, fundraisers, and more!

FEATURED FUNDRAISER
Kai Liu
On October 14, 2021, Kai Liu, a Chinese international student and a Binghamton grad alum was brutally attacked and robbed of his belongings that resulted in him needing brain surgery. This left him with medical bills that he cannot afford to pay himself. Due to the lack of media coverage, it is up to our community to share Kai’s story and donate. We, as a community, will continue to share Kai’s story and offer as much support as we can. We ask that you repost and share the incident as much as you can, as well as donate to Kai’s GoFundMe.
FEATURED EVENT
#StopAsianHate Rally
In the spring of 2020, members of the Asian-American student body came together to hold the #StopAsianHate Rally, located on the Peace Quad of Binghamton University. The rally was held to address the recent rise in Asian hate crimes during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to spread awareness regarding the recent hate crimes perpetrated on campus and hold the perpetrators and administration accountable.
